UNIT 2: Fractions

Objectives

1. To understand and use the different concepts of fraction.
2. To recognise and calculate equivalent fractions.
3. To apply the equivalence of fractions to facilitate different mathematical processes.
4. To operate with fractions.
5. To resolve problems with fractional numbers.
6. To operate with decimal numbers. 

7. To resolve problems with decimals numbers and express time measures in sexagesimal system


Evaluation Criteria

1.1. To associate a fraction with a part of a whole.
1.2. To express a fraction in decimal form.
1.3. To calculate the fraction of a number.
2.1. To identify whether two fractions are equivalent.
2.2. To obtain various fractions equivalent to one which is given.
2.3. To calculate the unknown term in two equivalent fractions, knowing the other three.
3.1. To simplify fractions until the irreducible fraction is obtained.
3.2. To reduce fractions to a common denominator.
4.1. To add and subtract fractions.
4.2. To multiply and divide fractions.
5.1. To solve problems in which the fraction of a number is calculated.
5.2. To solve problems of additions and subtractions of fractions.
5.3. To solve problems of multiplication and/or division of fractions.
5.4. To solve problems in which the concept of a fraction of a fraction is used. 

RESOURCES:
